Abstrakt


Rightly forgotten – “Prometheus” by Zygmunt Różycki

The article deals with the poem ‘Prometheus’ by Zygmunt Rozycki, one of the almost entirely forgotten Young Polish poets, who enjoyed his relative popularity in the lower intellectual environment at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. The author covers one of the most significant mythological themes which is the struggle of the Titan punished by the gods. Although the theme seems to be very attractive, the final artistic effect raises many questions and doubts. In my essay I am trying to show various weaknesses and inconsistencies of this poem in order to distinguish its graphomanic and epigonic features in comparison to previous Young Polish artists’ achievements
